$System

is a string describing the type of computer system on which the Wolfram System is being run.

Details

  • $System typically consists of words separated by spaces.
  • Typical values include "Microsoft Windows (64-bit)", "Mac OS X x86 (64-bit)", "Mac OS X ARM (64-bit)" and "Linux x86 (64-bit)".
  • $SystemID provides a more succinct version of the same basic information.
